Moment hooded knifeman tries to hide blade after alleged stab attack on Orpington High Street

This is the moment a hooded knifeman tries to conceal his blade after allegedly stabbing a man in a fight on a busy high street.

A group of construction workers in a van confronted the suspect after he is said to have refused to move off a pedestrian crossing in Orpington High Street, south-east London.

One of the three workers, brandishing a tyre iron, got out of the truck and another shouted “come on then” at the hooded suspect as the fight broke out, witnesses said.

 The man allegedly lunged at the unarmed 47-year-old driver with a kitchen knife and stabbed him under the armpit, before fleeing at 11.40am on Thursday.

Camera phone footage shows the attacker try to hide the knife.

Witness James Talbot, 24, a politics and business student, said: “At first I thought the guy on his own was in trouble.

“But then he pulled out a knife and stabbed the man in his armpit.

Police described the suspect as black, aged in his early 20s wearing a black hooded tracksuit with a black bag

“The guy fell to the floor holding his arm and the others got him up and dragged him to the car.”

The victim was said to have suffered minor injuries.
