TERROR ON OUR STREETS Shocking moment one of the moped gangs terrorizing London surround commuter on a Vespa and stab him before stealing his bike
John Tusting, 32, and Lucian Riviere, 18 – along with another unidentified rider – were spotted following their 52-year-old victim on his Vespa along a busy South-East London street.
As the rider turned into aside road at lights towards a residential area the thieves kicked out at his scooter forcing him to stop.
Then a passenger on the back of the moped – who has not yet been identified – pulled out a large kitchen knife and stabbed him in the chest.
The victim managed to jump over a low wall into a front garden to escape the danger of more serious harm.
The crooks then fled riding off with the man’s scooter during the incident in Eltham, south east London, just before 6pm on October 1 2015.
The man was treated at the scene by crew from London’s Air Ambulance before being taken to a south London hospital.
The pair were both found guilty of robbery, but not guilty of causing grievous bodily harm, at Southwark Crown Court and were jailed on Monday.
Officers trawled through CCTV footage and arrested Riviere, 18, four days later after he was seen with a moped and a grey crash helmet which matched footage of the robbery.
They later arrested Tusting, 32, at his home address in Hither Green.
Tusting was sentenced to ten years in prison – with an extended licence of three years while Riviere was jailed for eight years.
Upon release from prison, they will both be banned from driving for two years.
PC Greg Herriott, from Greenwich Borough, said: “These two men were involved in a violent robbery which resulted in the innocent owner of a Vespa being stabbed.
“We remain committed to cracking down on ‘moped-enabled’ crime and the theft of scooters.
